At the very beginning, Haien seems to be a placid loner, who couldn't care less about other people and well, kind of antisocial.
The reason for that is the huge stress he's almost constantly under, because of which he has failed numerous magic tests conducted in his school. That in turn made him think he's abysmally bad and made his self-esteem plummet.
Yet when he's around his two (and only) friends, he's like a whole another person.
He has a dark sense of humor. He likes studying and would love to travel around the world someday.
